Description: It has white sapwood w/ reddish brown heart wood. It is shock resistant but not durable. The grain which is normally straight can be very irregular of wavy.

Mechanical Properties: Janka side hardness 1820. Moderately stable.

Working Properties: Because of its density it has a moderate to severe blunting effect on machine tools. It has good nail holding ability, but prone to splintering. It is difficult to glue.

Durability: Sapwood liable to attck by powder-post beetles.

Uses: Hardwood flooring, chairs, bentwood furniture, striking tool handles, drumsticks, sports equipment.
